AMP Earns Two National “Top 10” Rankings for Alameda Green

ALAMEDA, CA – For the fifth consecutive year, Alameda Municipal Power (AMP) has been recognized as a national industry leader for its Alameda Green program. AMP recently earned two separate top 10 rankings from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), the U.S. Department of Energy's primary national laboratory for renewable energy and energy efficiency research. Alameda Green was ranked 3rd on the customer participation rate list and 6th on the rate of green power sales in 2019.

Alameda Green gives residents and businesses the option to support renewable energy projects beyond Alameda’s borders. To date, the program includes more than 3,400 residents and 60 businesses.

The first ranking highlights the high number of AMP customers participating in Alameda Green. With 11.8% of AMP’s customers participating in the program in 2019, AMP earned a 3rd place ranking on NREL’s list of national utilities with the highest green power program participation rate.

The second ranking showcases AMP’s megawatt-hour sales from Alameda Green in comparison with total utility megawatt-hour sales. In this category, AMP earned 6th place, up from 7th place in 2018.
