Northern California Power Agency Statement: The Geysers Geothermal Plant

ALAMEDA, CA – The Northern California Power Agency is monitoring developments with the Kincade Fire, which continues to burn in the proximity of The Geysers. NCPA’s geothermal power plant has been offline since last night. As of this writing, there is no immediate fire threat to NCPA facilities.

Only essential staff are currently manning the facility, and an on-site Incident Commander has also been identified to closely monitor developments. NCPA is working directly with CAL FIRE to ensure that it is taking all steps necessary to protect its employees and facilities.

NCPA regularly implements aggressive vegetation management and clearing around its facilities, and has been working over the past several months in an ongoing effort to establish fire breaks to prepare for any potential fire threats.

NCPA extends its gratitude to all of the emergency responders, as well as local, state, and federal agencies and organizations, that are working diligently to respond to this event. Updates will be posted at www.ncpa.com.
