Alameda Municipal Power Seeks Innovative Energy Savers

ALAMEDA, Calif.  – Alameda Municipal Power (AMP), in its ongoing commitment to helping its customers create energy efficient homes and businesses, announced the launch today of its annual Green Powerstar Awards Contest, which showcases innovative approaches to energy savings and greener power use.

All Alameda-based businesses, homes, and students are invited to apply in one of four award categories: Small Business, Large Business, Residential, or Youth. The Green Powerstar Awards program, now in its third year, honors all-around efforts to support energy efficiency, energy savings and greener power use. Special consideration will be given for new, innovative strategies to energy savings as well as approaches to meeting environmental challenges to make a greener community. Efforts should have been accomplished in 2012.

Awards will be presented to the winners at the City of Alameda’s Earth Day Festival on Saturday, April 20, 2013. The winners and their accomplishments will be profiled in video postings on the AMP website. Information about last year’s winners and their projects can also be found online.

Applications and more details on award criteria are available on AMP’s website. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 4.
