AMP Customers Help Fund Robotics Education in Alameda

ALAMEDA, CA – At its regular meeting on July 16, the city of Alameda’s Public Utilities Board presented a check for $10,881 to the Alameda Education Foundation (AEF).

The check represents funds collected in the 2018 fiscal year by Alameda Municipal Power (AMP) for Power Up for Learning, a joint program of AMP and AEF. The funding supports an island-wide robotics program for Alameda public school students.

By joining Power Up for Learning and adding an amount of their choice to their monthly electric bill, AMP customers have the opportunity to support technology education. Since the program began in 2004, AMP has collected more than $80,000 for Alameda’s public school students.

Robotics education helps students understand the scientific method and develop vital skills such as collaboration and teamwork. For as little as $1 per month, AMP customers can support robotics education by signing up for Power Up for Learning. From now until November 30, AMP will donate $50 for every new sign up. You can find the donation form at the Alameda Education Foundation website.
