Commercial Electric Rates
If you are starting a business in Alameda the most common rate schedule is A-1. This applies to commercial accounts where usage is less than 500 kW per month for any 6 out of the last 12 consecutive months.
Applicable state and local taxes and charges for the state solar PV program will be added to the scheduled charges.
We evaluate existing accounts yearly to determine the appropriate rate schedule based on usage history. Only one rate schedule change is allowed every 12 months except by mutual agreement between the customer and AMP.
- How is my rate determined when I open an account?
The rate schedule is set based on the service address and its usage history.
-
How can I get the lowest rate possible?
-
Commercial customers can request an account review of usage patterns to determine if the current billed rate is the most equitable.
- What could cause my rate to change (up or down)?
The rate would go down if the account was billed according to the A-1 rate schedule and usage increased to equal or exceed 8,000 kWh per month over a six month period, at which point the account would be eligible for the A-2 rate schedule.
The rate would go up if the customer was on the A-2 rate schedule and the usage dropped below 7,000 kWh per month over a six month period, putting the account on the A-1 rate schedule.
For detailed rate information please refer to the AMP Rules and Regulations.
