AMP’s Solar Rebate Program a Success

Alameda Municipal Power (AMP) announced today that it has become one of the first publicly owned utilities in the state to reserve all of its commercial solar rebate funding, proving that Alameda’s businesses are committed to sustainable power.  The entire $2.8 million in rebates available for commercial projects was reserved in just under five years—five years ahead of schedule.

Alameda, Calif.--Alameda Municipal Power's website has been fully restored after a routine backup of the system caused it to go down yesterday. At no time was customer data at risk since it resides on a separate in-house secure server.

May 7, 2012 – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 

AMP Website Temporarily Down

Alameda, Calif.—Alameda Municipal Power (AMP) announced today that its website was compromised on May 2 and links to outside sites were inserted within its web pages. The links were found and immediately removed from the AMP website. No sensitive data was compromised as all customer data is located on a separate in-house secure server.

Public Utilities Board Approves Third Year of 5-Year Rate Adjustment Plan

Last night at the regular meeting of the City of Alameda’s Public Utilities Board, the Board approved the third year of the five-year a rate adjustment plan for all customers.  The average overall rate adjustment of 3.25% for Alameda Municipal Power (AMP) customers is effective July 1, 2012.

Alameda Municipal Power Receives National Recognition for Providing Safe and Reliable Power

Alameda Municipal Power (AMP) is one of only 176 of the nation’s more than 2,000 public power utilities to earn platinum Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) recognition from the American Public Power Association (APPA). The designation, which is valid for two years, was announced today at the 2012 APPA Engineering & Operations Technical Conference in Cleveland, Ohio.

Alameda Municipal Power to Host Budget Workshop, Recommendation for Third Year of 5-year Rate Adjustment Plan to Follow

The public is invited to attend Alameda Municipal Power’s (AMP) budget workshop on Monday, April 16 at 4 p.m. at the Alameda Main Library, 1550 Oak St. As part of the open budget process, AMP staff will present the City of Alameda’s Public Utilities Board with its proposed budget for the 2013 fiscal year and seek the Board’s input on the document.

Power Outage on the Night of April 3, 2012

April 4, 2012:  A momentary power fluctuation in Alameda occurred at approximately 10:29 PM on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, affecting approximately 4,000 customers. However, 79 customers were without power in the general boundaries of Park Avenue and San Jose Avenue before power was restored at 2:56 am on April 4th, 2012.  

The cause of the outage is still being investigated.

Power Restored on February 20th

A power outage in Alameda occurred at approximately 12:00 PM on Monday, February 20th, affecting approximately 350 customers. General boundaries for the outage were the 1800 and 2200 block of Central and Alameda Ave. The cause was equipment failure. All power was restored at 3:05 PM.

Power Restored on Valentines Day

A power outage in Alameda occurred at aprroximately 12:50 PM on Tuesday afternoon affecting approximately 40 customers.  General boundaries for the outage were the 1800 blocks of Eagle, Miniturn, Union and Lafayette. The cause? A Squirrel!!!  It came into contact with transformer fuses. All power was restored at 2:10 PM.
